There are two shelters in Adelaide specifically for Aboriginal women and their children. These are Nunga Mi:Minar and Ninko Kurtangga Patpangga. Referral to either of these is made through the Domestic Violence and Aboriginal Family Violence Gateway 1800 800 098 (24 hours, 7 days).
Women’s Legal Service (SA)
Provide a specialised legal service to Aboriginal women.
Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement
Is an independent Aboriginal community controlled organisation governed by an all Aboriginal Board. They provide legal advice and representation.
Nunkawarrin Yunti (Working Together) is a community controlled centre in Adelaide providing health care and community support services to Aboriginal people. They run an Aboriginal women’s healing group which supports women through challenges including domestic violence.
Aboriginal Family Support Service
Provides wide ranging support to Aboriginal families.
Aboriginal Sobriety Group
Is a community-based organisation which provides care and support to Aboriginal people who wish to lead an alcohol and drug ‘free’ lifestyle.
Reporting Aboriginal child abuse
Yaitya Tirramangkotti (people of prevention) is a Families SA Aboriginal Child Abuse Report Line service to provide advice and assistance in any child abuse or neglect cases involving Aboriginal children. It is staffed by Aboriginal people. Call 13 14 78

Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC) is the national non government peak body in Australia representing the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. They have recently published Working and Walking Together: Supporting Family Relationship Services to Work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families.
